Bought as a replacement, fit just right and also had a lock included.I like the push pull feature, very happy with purchase.I am updating my review after living with this and using it for a month. I have come to like it a good deal more than I thought I would. What felt like loosnees to my husband when he installed it is actually the flexibility of the knob. It really does work no matter how you approach it and is quite easy to open with my hands full. It makes it so much easier to get in the door when I come home from the farmer's market! I would upgrade the rating to 5 stars, BUT I still would like a heavier knob for an entry door, and, having a secong lock (as there is not lock on this knob) effectively defeats the purpose. That is, if a second lock is required, you still need to have free hands to use it. In many ways my original opinion/ review is not much changed. I am upgrading my opinion of it for indoors use, and would give it 5 stars in that regard, but still 3.5-4 for an outdoor or main entry knob.We have it installed on the door between our garage and our house, and it is perfect for that purpose. It allows me to get through the door with my hands full, so I can put my groceries down inside (where it is not raining ;) ) and then have my hands free to unlock the door. I would heartily recommend it for that use. However, had I installed it on our front (or back) door, I would wind up having to juggle bags in the rain to get through the door, this knob not offering the benefits it could because it does not lock.I suppose that if you live in an area where you do not have to lock the door, this could be a great thing, but myself, haven't seen a neighborhood like that in a good many years.__________________________________ original review appears below ---------------------------------------------------------------------The Brinks Home Security Push Pull Rotate door knob is a clever design which makes it easy to open doors when your hands are full, or if you have difficulty with traditional door knobs. It was easy to install, the directions complete, and everything required provided but for a screwdriver. The door pull/ knob (I am not quite sure what to call it) is somewhat lighter weight than the hardware we replaced, and feels a little loose when installed (likely an artifact of the design). I thought it was a nice looking piece of hardware when I took it out of the box, but my husband, who installed it, said it felt a little cheesy. I have to admit that now that it is installed, it does feel less substantial than what was there before. It also has a finish which looks like a gold wash or plate, and again, is not as nice looking as what we had before (plain though it was). It is a bit heavier than what we have on our closets, but lighter than the brass hardware on both our exterior and interior doors. I had thought about putting it on an exterior door, which is where it seems to make the most sense in terms of utility, but my husband said that it was marked as an interior door handle, and it does feel like it is too light weight to be a secure exterior dor knob. This model is not looking, though there is a matching lock which may be purchased separately. It has a feature which gives me some concern. There is a privacy lock which may be locked from the inside, and apparently it is possible to lock accidentally, which means that you can lock yourself out, but there is no key! There is a toold provided to open the door if you accidentally lock yourself out, or otherwise need to get in if the door is locked. I am not sure whether this is a feature or a liability. I suppose, it is a feature if it is used on an interior door, unless you accidentally lock yourself out. Were it an option, I would rate this 3.5 stars. I like the ease of access, but wish it were more solid and felt less like closet hardware.I would rate this 5 stars for innovation and ease of access.5 stars for ease of installation3 stars for build quality3 stars for the privacy feature which enables your locking yourself out (if this sounds odd, 5 stars for the ability to lock it from inside, 1 star for the ability to accidentally lock yourself out of a keyless door)I might consider replacing some interior door knobs with this, and would be more likely to do so if access were an issue. For people looking to make their home ADA compliant this might be very appealing.I personally do not feel like it is solid enough that I would want to use it on an exterior door. I also like the look of solid brass better than a coated/ washed metal. We got this lock for our laundry room which is situated between the back door and the kitchen. One reason we chose this door handle is that you can open it with a gentle shove while your hands are full. Our laundry room seems to end up full of dog beds, step ladders and clothes so being able to open the door with a push of the hip is a big plus. The other reason we got the lock is for the slight additional security it offers. Our back door has a good lock but the door is old and has a large window pane and so is not really that secure. This Brinks locking door handle allows us to lock the kitchen door at night thus possibly deterring an amateur burglar and possibly preventing them getting further into the house or at least warning our dogs. The lock is simply disabled if you have a thin piece of wire of miniature screwdriver since it’s a privacy lock intended more for the bathroom and designed to be easily unlocked if there is an emergency.Installing the lock is simple. You have two lock cylinders to choose from depending on the handle offset. Most of the door handle lock comes pre-assembled. You push the lock through the bolt hole on the edge of the door first. Slide the handle with the lock mechanism though so the bold cylinder latches onto the groove. Then you bolt on a unfinished plate with the long machine bolts provided. Snap on the decorative plate that hides any screw heads and screw on the finished sleeve that covers the lock button. Screw on the remaining lever handle and you’re done. It’s simple and there really is no need for instructions if you have a door of standard thickness. The instructions actually look more complicated than the installation process actually is. Though you will need them if you have a thicker than normal door and need to adjust the lock to compensate for it.During the whole installation process, the only thing I didn’t like was that the machine screw heads that clamp the lock into the door were fairly soft and the standard #2 Phillips screwdriver was slightly small making it easy to ruin the head if you’re not paying attention. You might need a #3 screwdriver. I ended up having to use a small flat screwdriver for the final tightening.Other than that it all went perfectly and works very well. The satin finish with the unusually decorative handle looks better in person on the door than in the photos. If it looks chunky when you take it out the box but wait till it’s on the door before passing judgement. It looks good and works really well.I recommend it.Finally had it installed yesterday! Works exactly as advertised! I can definitely see how having this installed into the back door of my house will make things easier while carrying items in, and wrangling 4 dogs. It’s definitely more bronze than pictured- will have to hand paint it with tremclad when it’s warmers out.
