The Caribbean Appliance Frigidaire Door Latch & Switch Assembly (for Front Loading washers) is 100% as good as advertised. It completely fixed our Frigidaire Affinity washing machine and saved us from a $90 service call + $75 part.Pros:This product is advertised at a substantially better price point (here) than most other retailers, appliance shops, or from the manufacturer. We purchased the product to resolve "Error Code 41" or "E41" service code and it did exactly that. The washing machine originally stopped functioning during its spin cycle -- initial troubleshooting revealed the E41 code on the display.Steps I followed to replace the original unit:Step 1 - Unplug the washing machine (also remove any access water that might splash)Step 2 - Open the washer door and use needle-nose pliers to remove the thin, metal wire clamp & spring from the boot sealStep 3 - Peel back the boot seal near the latch assembly areaStep 4 - Remove the two (2) screws holding the door latch in placeStep 5 - Insert hand behind the boot seal area, grab the door latch assembly, pull it out, and disconnect the wires (3 sets)Step 6 - Insert your new latch assembly (might be a slightly different color than the original -- this is OK) and reattach the wiresStep 7 - Insert the original two (2) screws to hold the new latch in place, replace boot seal, replace wire clamp & springStep 8 - Plug washer back-in and test it out on Spin CycleCons:None -- keep in mind that this replacement product might be colored a little different than the original manufacturer's latch kit. This is completely OK and does not affect the functionality of the product.Overall:The E41 error is often caused by corrosive build-up on the internal soldering joints of the original Door Latch & Switch Assembly mechanism. You can absolutely remove the unit, open it up, and use small wire brushes or picks to scrape off the joints in an attempt to repair it without purchasing this product. That being said, this price point is to good to pass up for a guaranteed long-lasting fix that comes with an optional extended warranty -- I highly recommend it. Do-it-yourself fix. No Service Call required. 5 Stars.Our Affinity front load washer kept flashing the error code "dr" and beeping 4 times. It did this over and over as long as the power was plugged in. Other online forums say you should replace the door lock mechanism which I did. But when I plugged it back in, the problem came back.THE TRICK that worked is: you have to break rule number one for working with electrical things and leave the power plugged in! Then open the door and peel back the rubber seal/boot. (You may need to remove a spring loaded metal ring that's hidden inside the groove of the seal.)Then reach inside to the right. Find the door lock mechanism. Unplug the bottom connector. (The one to the wax motor.) You will hear a clunk sound. The dr code will change to something like "18h" and the darn beeping will STOP. Wait a few seconds. Plug it back in. You'll hear another sound.If you have long skinny arms, you might be able to do this by sliding off the top of the washer and reaching in.This won't fix all problems of course, but it's a cheap and easy thing to try before replacing parts.Almost a year ago, my washer stopped the extraction and final spins (basically it cease to stop spinning fast). I had read many horror stories about motors burning out, or catch trays clogging up. Add to that the positioning of where my washer was, it was going to be a bear of a job to remove the dryer from on top and pull out the washer to get access to the places I needed.Nope! After some youtube sleuthing, I found out you can simply remove the spring loaded metal ring on the front of the rubber seal, and with just two screws you can remove the front door latch assembly. You can pull the latch assembly through the opening you have created by pulling away the rubber seal (I admit I was nervous about doing this, but gosh, it was so darn easy, and if I can do this, you can too!).I popped off the connections to the old latch assembly, plugged them into the new and reversed my steps to reassemble the washer. The whole process took me no more than 5 minutes with a phillips screwdriver and a pair of needle nose pliers (pliers to pull back the spring loaded metal ring).All said and done, I plugged back in the washer, works perfectly! For a part a little under $50, and a 5 minute repair, this is so very much worth it!I had to get this part because my son is The Hulk and broke my striker inside my washer. I thought I could do it myself and get this doorlock out, remove the striker, and reinstall. I ended up breaking the door lock part and had to buy this one. Then I couldn't reinstall the part.I ended up calling a repairman. He reinstalled the part for me in five minutes. I was going through the top. He went through the front by removing the rubber gasket.The moral of the story: Call the repairman. It will cost you, but it will cost less.BTW, I had a really hard time finding a repairman that was local. So I asked him if YouTube and all these internet parts places were putting repairman out of business. His response was no, people doing half the job and getting stuck was keeping him in business. I think he was talking about me.Perfect fit for my Frigidaire Affinity front loader. Error said “Door Open” - which it was not, so I couldn’t drain the washer or do anything. Watched a couple of YouTube videos which explained that this was a fairly easy DIY repair. Saved myself at least a couple hundred dollars by not having someone come fix it. Bonus was not having to wait for a repair shop to have time to come. It’s been a week since I installed it, so far so good. No electrical smells like some other purchasers. Plus I get to be proud of myself and show my young adult sons that their mom has all sorts of talents they weren’t even aware of!
