I disagree with all of the bad things I read about this. The install was a little tricky, but for the price it was worth the extra time fiddling around with the outer handset to get the latch mounted correctly on the lower door latch mechanism bolt. It appeared to be somewhat spring loaded, and when I turned the spring so it was all the way out, the square thingy (technical term) went into the latch mechanism square and the handsets worked on both sides. I didn't use the deadbolt portion at the top as I have an electronic keyless deadbolt. The instructions are nil in the package, and the template for holes was a waste of paper. But I love the dual handset that adds class and flash to both sides of the door for under $40
